iSCSI Initiator Delivers New SAN Technology to Apple Customers
AMHERST, NY - April 20, 2005 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, is demonstrating its Macintosh® iSCSI initiator software, Xtend SAN, at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) tradeshow in booth SL2265. Shipping in May, Xtend SAN enables Mac® users to build Ethernet-based storage networks while relying on ATTO’s industry-leading price, performance, scalability, and ease-of-use.

Xtend SAN is the first widely-distributed, stand-alone application that allows Mac users to attach existing storage to an IP-based network. When coupled with an ATTO iPBridge™ product, Xtend SAN provides a complete solution for Macs accessing both native Fibre Channel and SCSI storage. Through this combination, IT managers in departmental data centers and small and medium-sized businesses can include Apple® computers in their SAN deployment while leveraging their current Ethernet network, thereby maximizing return on investment.  “ATTO Xtend SAN iSCSI initiator lets Apple users tap the incredible opportunity offered by iSCSI SANs, enabling low-cost Ethernet based solutions that provide businesses with performance, reliability and security technologies for their storage area networks,” said Ed Tierney, marketing director for ATTO Technology.

Enabling storage centralization and consolidation at an affordable price, Xtend SAN -- coupled with an ATTO iPBridge – provides the ability to attach existing SCSI storage to an Ethernet IP-based network. By connecting legacy SCSI or Fibre Channel storage, Mac users can: Take existing direct-attached SCSI or Fibre Channel storage devices and make them available to multiple servers, increasing accessibility and simplifying storage management; Use standard Ethernet protocols which leverages existing IT expertise providing a more cost effective alternative to Fibre Channel; and Improve return on investment for existing SCSI and Fibre Channel storage devices.   About ATTO Technology, Inc.
