iSCSI Initiator Delivers New SAN Technology to Apple Customers
AMHERST, NY - April 20, 2005 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, is demonstrating its Macintosh® iSCSI initiator software, Xtend SAN, at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) tradeshow in booth SL2265. Shipping in May, Xtend SAN enables Mac® users to build Ethernet-based storage networks while relying on ATTO’s industry-leading price, performance, scalability, and ease-of-use.

Xtend SAN is the first widely-distributed, stand-alone application that allows Mac users to attach existing storage to an IP-based network. When coupled with an ATTO iPBridge™ product, Xtend SAN provides a complete solution for Macs accessing both native Fibre Channel and SCSI storage. Through this combination, IT managers in departmental data centers and small and medium-sized businesses can include Apple® computers in their SAN deployment while leveraging their current Ethernet network, thereby maximizing return on investment.  “ATTO Xtend SAN iSCSI initiator lets Apple users tap the incredible opportunity offered by iSCSI SANs, enabling low-cost Ethernet based solutions that provide businesses with performance, reliability and security technologies for their storage area networks,” said Ed Tierney, marketing director for ATTO Technology.

Enabling storage centralization and consolidation at an affordable price, Xtend SAN -- coupled with an ATTO iPBridge – provides the ability to attach existing SCSI storage to an Ethernet IP-based network. By connecting legacy SCSI or Fibre Channel storage, Mac users can: Take existing direct-attached SCSI or Fibre Channel storage devices and make them available to multiple servers, increasing accessibility and simplifying storage management; Use standard Ethernet protocols which leverages existing IT expertise providing a more cost effective alternative to Fibre Channel; and Improve return on investment for existing SCSI and Fibre Channel storage devices.   About ATTO Technology, Inc.

Charismac Updates Emulex FC Driver for OS X

- High performance Fibre channel card driver works with legacy boards in OS X -

Auburn, CA 8/6/2003 - Charismac Engineering, Inc. updated their high-performance Emulex Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA) driver to support Apple Computers’ OS X today. Shipping for over three weeks now, the new optimized for OSX Fibre Channel driver supports the Emulex LP 6000, 7000 and 8000 series of Light pulse Fibre channel cards.

“We felt that this was an absolutely necessity for our loyal customers moving forward,” said Wyler Furgeson, Charismac President and CEO. “We have several thousand seats of FibreShare v1.0 SAN Software already installed in sites that are running OS 9, many of these sites are ready to begin the migration to OS X now that our FibreShare V2.0 is shipping for OS X. Charismac as a company couldn’t in good conscious require our customer base to purchase yet another expensive Fibre Channel HBA in addition to their other costs associated with moving their SANs (Storage Area Networks) to OS X. In most all scenarios these Emulex cards have been running flawlessly since they were first installed.”

The release of the Emulex (NYSE:ELX) OS X driver comes on the heels of the release of Charismac’s popular volume sharing SAN software package, FibreShare. FibreShare V2.0, released last month, has been met with very enthusiastic demand as it hits the market as the first SAN sharing solution to ship in volume with support for OS X with the same bullet proof stability as other Charismac products. FibreShare V2.0 allows multiple users to access shared storage over high-performance Fibre Channel connection. Using a dual-port 2 GB Fibre channel storage array such as Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) XRAID, FibreShare v2.0 users can see speeds in excess of 200 MB/sec at each workstation in a SAN environment while sharing data between hosts seamlessly.

The Charismac Emulex driver for OS X is available only as part of the FibreShare v2.0 solution.
